What to Ask Your Recruiter After an Interview

March 18, 2015 Posted by Remede in Blog

Since 2002, Remede has been providing  healthcare workers with expert staffing services to meet their needs. Unlike other staffing firms, we don’t believe our work is finished the moment the interview has been scheduled. Instead, we work with candidates throughout the job placement process. Our goal is to help you improve your interview skills while boosting your odds of landing that dream job. Here are a few questions every candidate should ask his or her recruiter after completing a job interview:

Inquire About Performance

Whether or not the interview went well in your estimation, it’s important to speak to your recruiter after the fact. Unlike a hiring manager, a recruiter can and will be honest with you about your performance—in fact, she may be able to speak directly with the interviewer about what you did right and wrong. In some cases, you may even have the opportunity to correct errors made during the interview. If you forgot to mention a key piece of work experience, don’t hesitate to ask the recruiter to forward that info along to interested parties.

Ask for Suggestions

Last interview not quite all that you hoped? Ask your recruiter to provide tips for improving performance in future encounters. Even making small adjustments to your interview style, like selling your strengths by a review of your clinical experience to asking questions about the unit, the types of patients they care for and any specialty equipment they utilize, can have a profound effect on how you’re perceived by potential employers. For best results, be as honest as possible with your concerns. After all, the goal is to ensure your next interview will be your last one for some time.

Request a Timeline

There’s one question you’re almost certainly eager to ask your recruiter: how soon will you know if you got the job? While you shouldn’t badger your recruitment expert for hourly updates, it’s fine to request a timeline as to when the employer will be making a decision. The two of you can then work together to plan your job-search strategy moving forward.
